Low Fees

UK Sailmakers New Zealand is looking for one or two experienced sailmakers or canvas workers to join our team for the Southern Hemisphere summer season. This is a temporary position running approximately from November 2025 through the end of February 2026.

We’re seeking skilled, hands-on individuals with experience in sailmaking or canvas work. If you’re detail-oriented, dependable, and ready to jump into a busy summer at the loft, we’d love to hear from you.

This full-time position involves building and repairing sails, canvas, and shades in a fully air-conditioned indoor facility.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM

Responsibilities:

• Use of power and hand tools
• Cutting fabric and webbing, measuring sails
• Hand sewing and preparing sail/canvas components for assembly

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience in upholstery, awning, or similar hands-on work
• Attention to detail and ability to follow precise measurements
• Sewing experience is an asset but not required
• Physically capable of lifting up to 30 lbs
• Must have valid work authorization, a Social Security Number, and the ability to communicate in English
